BMW XM – Exterior Detail and Decontamination Wash

The BMW XM is a beast. It’s the most powerful production car BMW has ever made, and everything about it feels over the top—in the best way. This one came in fully wrapped in PPF, which helps protect the paint, but it still needed a proper reset. The film had some road grime, light buildup, and felt a bit rough to the touch. The owner wanted it cleaned up front to back, so we did our full exterior detail with a full decontamination wash.

We started with a deep rinse followed by a thick foam pre-wash to break down the surface dirt. After that, we moved into a hand wash, making sure to work through all the tight areas around the grille, trim, and lower sections. The XM’s body has a lot of edges and design cuts, so it took some time to get into everything without rushing through it.

Once the surface was clean, we went in with an iron remover to safely pull any embedded particles from the PPF, then followed it up with a clay bar pass to smooth things out. Even with the film, the surface had some texture that needed to be cleared up for the finish to look its best.

We finished it off with a sealant designed for PPF to add some gloss and protection. When it rolled out, the XM looked deep, clean, and sharp. The film was doing its job, and now the finish matched the level of the car itself.
